Suject: don't just question authority... Date: Sun, 20 Jun 2010 20:29:19 +0200 De: abFab <abfab@propagande.org> Pour: jello@alternativetentacles.com
Dear Jello,
First of all, I would like to say that I am very sorry for my poor english, but I'm french (I suppose it's a valid explanation).
"MTV get off the air"
What the hell are you doing on Myspace ?
Myspace is a fucking multinational in social networking bizness, like Walmart is fucking multinational in grocery bizness. Each time you print it on a flyuer or a poster, you are doing an advertisment for them. "http://www.myspace.com/jellobiafraandthegsm" that means, "hey guys, we'are on Myspace", exactly like if you were saying : "Hey guys, I do shopping at WalMart !".
By doing this, you say "come on Myspace, you can listen to our music and pay for it by watching advertisments". Great. You are using your notoriety to drive people to Myspace website and so enlarge his trafic, and so on. Super.
Honestly, I do not recognise the Jello who said "MTV get off the air".
Now it is : "Myspace, it's cool"
"Third reich won't come back, you say ? Not if Fox News has their way"
But the worst thing, in my point of view, is that you are doing exactly the contrary of what you say.
Myspace is only a fucking company whose value is proportional to his websites visitors. So directly you do not just impose advertisment to your visitors, you are increasing the value of Myspace.
Do I teach you that Myspace belongs to News Corp and Rupert Murdoch ? By increasing the value of Myspace you increase the power of Murdoch. You destroy Murdoch by words, and you help him in facts.
Guantanamo is a result of War in Irak. War in Irak is a result of News Corp propaganda. And you denounce War in Irak by promoting News Corp social network.
"Dont just question authority / don't forget to question me"
Jello, I can imagine there are some (bad) reasons for AT to have a page on Myspace(c), a page on Facebook(c), a blog on Google(c) (which all are the new Big Brothers, changing each part of private life into commercial data, converting internet into a huge field of billboards)... but there are absolutly no reason for a music group to be there, especially when he is politically engaged. When we search your name on Internet, we only find pages on social-networking companies. It is not possible for anybody to listen to you, or to contact you, without beeing attacked by some advertisments !
You could have your own website, with a pretty cool music player, and all the necessary stuff without feeding murdoch and imposing ads to your fans...
So, I am questionning you : what the hell are you doing on myspace ?
Best regards,
abFab
Mais pas de problème, puisque ce brave George m'assure que Jello aura bien connaissance de mon mail : "I will print this out for him and be sure he receives it.".
PS. Les titres sont tirés des morceaux suivants :
- MTV get off the air ("So don't create / Be sedate / Be a vegetable at home", Dead Kennedy's)
- Kali-Fornia Uber Alles 21st Century (une ré-interprétation du "California.." avec Schwarzie dans le rôle du gouverneur) (JB with the melvins).
- Enchanted Thoughtfist (au final explosif, "I say "now it's your turn" / To start a fire / Fire fire start your own fire / Bring the world fire") (JB with the Melvins)
